Ten years ago...

While walking in our neighborhood recently we saw a house with a plaque by the front door.  It read:  "In this place in 1900, nothing important happened."  As we were thinking about this,  we thought the plaque we would hang on our house would say something like:  "Since 1998, many wonderful things and unique difficulties have happened in our life."  As we approach the end of our tenth season, there are many great things for which we are so grateful. Ten years ago we had no idea that  our life would change in so many ways. We believe something supernatural brought us here to Saint Louis to meet as a couple, to start a new family, to learn about American culture, to be able to teach soccer in ways that would impact lives. Ten years ago we didn't know that our children would be with us, running all over the place, sharing love, speaking in two languages, growing in a multicultural community. Ten years ago we were not aware that, along with our friend Scott McDoniel and his family, we would have to surrender to the game of soccer and make the most difficult decision, which was to leave the John Burroughs School community. Ten years ago we didn't know how precious the JB community would became for us as a family.  After ten years all we have to say is thank you JB soccer program, kids, parents, staff members, faculty members, for being such a great family and for supporting us as a family in the middle of crisis and restauration.
